At Joyful Tots, we understand that navigating childcare funding options can be overwhelming. That’s why we’re here to help! Several government-supported schemes are available to assist families in accessing high-quality childcare, making it more affordable and accessible.
9-Month Funding: We offer an extended option to stretch government-funded childcare beyond the typical academic year, ensuring uninterrupted early education and support for families.
15-Hour Funding: All 3- and 4-year-olds are entitled to 15 free hours per week for 38 weeks of the year, starting the term after they turn 3. This is available to all families, regardless of income.
30-Hour Funding: Working parents can access up to 30 free hours per week (1,140 hours per year). From September 2025, this will also be available for children aged 9 months and 2 years. To qualify, parents must be employed, earning at least the National Minimum Wage for 16 hours per week but less than £100,000 per year.
Stretched Funding: Whether you receive 15 or 30 hours of funded childcare, we offer an option to spread this across the year, providing continuous support rather than term-time-only childcare.
The government contributes 20% on childcare costs—for every £8 you pay, they add £2, up to £2,000 per child per year (£4,000 for disabled children). This applies to nurseries, childminders, and after-school care.
Working parents eligible for Universal Credit can claim back up to 85% of childcare costs, with a maximum claim of £1,015 per month for one child or £1,739 for two or more children.
Some families may qualify for 15 free hours per week for their 2-year-old if they receive certain benefits, such as Universal Credit (household income under £15,400/year after tax) or Income Support.
